A 17-year-old Kelowna youth is in police custody in Vernon in connection with the theft of a pick-up truck Tuesday.
Vernon RCMP say the truck was stolen from the Middleton Mountain area shortly before 1 a.m. When they confronted the driver, he fled, narrowly missing a second police vehicle.
Police say the short pursuit ended when two suspects abandoned the truck in the downtown area and fled on foot.
RCMP were able to capture one of the suspects. They say the second one got away in a blue Pontiac Grand Am with Alberta plates that was following the stolen truck.
The Kelowna youth has released to his parents.
RCMP are recommending charges of dangerous driving, causing a pursuit and possession of stolen property.
