A 2nd Vernon grocery store was the target of an armed robbery Friday.
RCMP say shortly before midnight, a lone male entered the downtown Vernon Safeway and asked an employee for assistance.
Police say the suspect pulled back his jacket, exposing what the employee believed was a long gun. According to police, the man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Extensive foot and dog patrol searches were unsuccessful.
The suspect is described as being about 6 feet tall with dark grey facial hair. He wore a grey touque with two lighter grey solid stripes, a dark coloured jacket, pants and shoes.
Earlier in the day, a man used a shotgun to rob the Cooper's Foods Store on 43rd Avenue.
RCMP have not indicated whether the two incidents are related.
