Get ready for Diwali

Diwali is back.

The second annual Diwali in Vernon Festival is planned for Oct. 15-19.

Presented by the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Society, the festival will host a variety of multicultural activities around the city, culminating in a showcase performance at the Performing Arts Centre.

Festival organizers welcome everyone to participate in a multicultural gathering that aims to unite residents, regardless of age, identity, and culture.

Diwali in BC is an annual multicultural festival that aims to showcase artists from diverse backgrounds to celebrate the festival of lights during the annual Indian New Year.

It is a non-denomination, non-religious festival with a focus on local artists.

The wrap-up showcase will feature diverse artists, headlined by popular Bollywood dance group, the Shiamak Dancers. World renowned tablaist Cassius Khan will also perform, along with Kathak dancers Amika Kushwaha, who recently performed for the UN in Geneva to rave reviews.

Tickets for the showcase are $35 for adults, $32 for seniors and $30 for students. Call the Ticket Seller Box Office at 250-549-SHOW (7469) or go online.
