Assault at Kal Lake Park

Vernon RCMP are investigating an alleged assault in Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park.

The attack happened Sept. 14, during the setup for a local trail race. 

Just after 1 p.m., police responded to the park after race organizers setting up for the race said a male suspect had been removing course markers. 

Two volunteers confronted the man, who then assaulted one of the race crew. The victim was not injured.

RCMP Const. Kelly Brett. says organizers had permission from BC Parks to utilize flags and markers inside the park for the 100-kilometre trail race.

A 59-year-old male of no fixed address was arrested faces possible charges.
