Local Builders Honoured

Three Okanagan area builders have been nominated as finalists in the prestigious National SAM Awards to be presented next February in Charlevoix, Quebec.

CHBA President, Dave Benbow, says that winning a SAM is a real honour and distinction.

“It really does not get much better for a new home builder, renovator or developer than to be recognized by your business colleagues,” declared Mr. Benbow.

The Awards are nominated and chosen from within the more than 7,600 members of the CHBA, much like the Grammy Awards are done for musicians and singers.

Chriscan Enterprises Ltd. of Kelowna, Homescape Building & Design Inc of Summerland, and Woodland Hills on the Ridge of Kelowna are all finalists in the “Single Detached Home Over 4,000 Square Feet” category. The other finalist in the same category is from Toronto.

The new category delineation gives an indication of the continual literal growth in the Canadian marketplace, as the previous year's equivalent category was for homes over 3500 square feet.

“This year’s Competition was about letting your work shine,” said Benbow.

“With a record number of entries from across Canada to choose from, the judges no doubt had their hands full. The Competition is fierce and the finalists certainly have much to be proud of.”

All together, 22 National SAM Awards will be presented in seven categories at the Canadian Home Builders Association 64th National Conference on February 24, 2007.
