Pole Fire Causes Detour

A hydro pole fire in Vernon this morning caused headaches for hydro customers and highway traffic.

Just before 10 am, RCMP blocked traffic from traveling along Highway 97 (32nd Street) from 31st Avenue to 34th Avenue.

Almost 3,000 customers were affected by the outage covering an area from Centennial Drive East to Francis Street and 35th Avenue South to Mountainview Road.

By 11 am, BC Hydro personnel had power re-routed and the highway was reopened.
