Fatal crash victim from Sask.

The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the victim of a fatal crash on Highway 97 near Vernon Jan. 6 was a Saskatchewan woman.

The highway was closed for hours following the three-vehicle collision near Birnie Road.

"Upon officer's arrival, Good Samaritans were administering first aid to those injured, however, one woman died as a result of her injuries. Other injured parties were transported to the nearest medical facility," RCMP Const. Kelly Brett said following the crash.

The Coroners Service said Wednesday it is still in the early stages of its fact-finding investigation into the incident.

It confirmed that a female in her twenties, from Saskatchewan, died in the crash. The victim's name was not released.

Brett previously said witnesses reported one vehicle driving dangerously just before the incident.
