BC Dragoons want you

Civilians got a close-up look at military life Saturday, during an open house with the B.C. Dragoons in Vernon.

Master Cpl. Thomas Fisher said the reserve unit is seeking more part-time soldiers to fill its ranks.

Recruits can be between 16 and 57 years old, and can receive training in a wide range of areas.

Being a Dragoon also provides an opportunity to travel, and Fisher said he has been from one end of the country to the other.

“It's a great opportunity to challenge yourself both physically and mentally,” said Fisher. “You are going to get skills that will transfer to whatever your line of work is on the civilian side.”

Fisher said being a BCD is part time and can be arranged to work around a person's civilian schedule.

There will also be training on numerous military vehicles as well as firearms from rifles to handguns.

To join the BCDs, which also operate out of Kelowna, apply online or call 250-712-4227.
