Castanet Turns Six

In November 2000, we turned-on the switch that brought new media to life in the Okanagan.

Today, we boast more than 130,000 visits each day and the numbers keep climbing. An average day at Castanet sees more than 900,000 pages loaded -- that translates to more 4 million hits.

Since March 2004, Castanet has posted more than 24,000 stories, columns, and Letters to the Editor. We have also posted more than 600 videos and audio clips as Castanet continues to open-up the world of 'multi-media'.

At any time, there are more 6,000 active classified postings in our Free Photo Classifieds section which receive more than 70,000 page views every day.

Castanet has in excess of 9,000 images in our photo gallery and we boast more than 400 new forum postings each day in our discussion forums.

In the summer of 2003, the Okanagan and the world turned to us for continuous up-to-date information about the Okanagan Mountain Park fire.

In March 2004, we launched a 'new look' Castanet with updates 24 hours a day to become the most up-to-date local news source in the Okanagan. Since 2004, Castanet has been archiving all our of video and audio elements including the 101-5 Silk FM Newscasts. We've also recently introduced RSS newsfeeds, as well as a new multimedia player to our site. You can also look forward to email news alerts and a new and improved 'events' guide.

This past June, Castanet expanded beyond Kelowna with a Penticton edition. And as we've grown, our readers have grown with us. Thank-you for your thousands of emails, news tips, photos, and videos.
