A major early-winter storm system moving across British Columbia has dumped over twenty centimetres at Silver Star Mountain Resort, giving the 'green light' to open the Nordic trails on Saturday, November 11.
Glenn Bond, Silver Star Nordic Director, says "Wow, what a difference a day makes! The temperature has dropped, the snow's falling hard, and we've been snowmobile grooming several trails that will be in excellent early season shape. Come on up and ski on over fifteen kilometres of track set trails!"
The BC Nordic Team has 44 athletes from around the province on mountain for early season training, and members of the elite X-C.com team are at Silver Star as well.
Silver Star's alpine base is at 44 centimetres, (with 18 cm in the last 12 hours), and the Village base is at 28 centimetres. The forecast is looking like snow for the next 5-7 days.
The following Nordic trails will be open for this weekend
Paradise Trail
Howie’s Loop
Comin’ Around the Mountain
Cabin East
Cross Mountain Pathway
The ticket office and public washrooms will be open. Other services will be opening throughout the week.
