Vernon RCMP have seen a decrease in crime numbers over the past six months.
They credit the drop to efforts made by police in partnership with local citizens.
Comparing numbers for the six month period of May to October over the past two years, residential break and enters are down more than 40%, commercial break and enters about 18% and other break and enters more than 30%.
Vehicle crime numbers are also down. Vehicle thefts have fallen about 13%, while theft from vehicles are down 10%.
Crime in rural detachment areas of Lumby, Armstrong, Falkland and Enderby have fallen nearly 15%.
RCMP also believe the recent rash of bank robberies and purse snatching's have come to an end.
Police say they had two suspects for the purse snatching's, but had insufficient evidence to lay charges.
According to police, one of the suspects has since been jailed on unrelated charges while the other has left the area.
They says since that time, there have been no further reports of purse snatching's.
