Too early to campaign?

Chantelle Deacon

The municipal elections across the province are quickly approaching and many voters might already be noticing campaign signs on the streets.

Candidates seem to be trying to make their faces and platforms known, possibly a little sooner than normal. That's why Castanet decided to hit the streets of Vernon and ask, "Is it too soon to see campaign signs lining the streets?"

"As it's coming up in October, I think that it's a really great idea that peoples names are out there and that all of the citizens get to know their candidates," one woman said. "Research them a little bit and look at them as though they're applying for a job and starting looking at what questions you want to ask them."

But many Vernon residents think that it might be a little too early to be campaigning.

The municipal election takes place on Oct. 20 and so far 21 residents are in the running for Vernon city council, with four in the running for mayor.
