Metalfest calling for bands

After a bit of financial uncertainty, it looks like metalheads will again descend upon Armstrong in 2019.

"I am very excited to announce that Armstrong Metalfest 2019 is full steam ahead," stated West Metal Entertainment promoter Jesse Valstar. "We are embarking into a new decade of metal so we figure we may as well kick off this one right. Our team is expanded, refined and better than ever. We are looking forward to putting in the time to provide the best Armstrong Metalfest possible."

Armstrong Metal Festival did make a public plea for funds late in the Summer as it tried to recoup losses.

The organizers set up a GoFundMe page with a goal of $5,000.

"Each year our costs have steadily grown and, even with our planning throughout this year, it has become more than we can handle. In the past we were able to recoup any losses through fundraising and personal contributions, but this year it is not enough," was stated on the GoFundMe page. "Because of various upgrades, such as the stage, and unexpected costs, we are here, asking for your help."

As of Monday morning, more than $4,800 had been raised.

"Submissions for Armstrong Metal Festival are now open and all bands are welcome to submit themselves to play Western Canada’s longest-running metal festival," stated Valstar.

The 2019 edition of the festival will take place on July 12-13.

"This is guaranteed to be a monumental year for not only the festival, but for the underground Canadian metal community in general, so get creative and apply quickly," Valstar added.

Submissions are now open until November 1, 2018; more information on how to submit available at the official website: https://armstrongmetalfest.ca/contact/band-submissions/
