IPE in full swing

Chantelle Deacon

Things are heating up at Armstrong's annual Interior Provincial Exhibition.

The five days of fun kicked off Wednesday, and despite some rain, thousands came out to enjoy the animals, vendors, food and rides.

The IPE is the largest agriculture fair across the province.

"We will see probably about 150,000 people over the five days," said Yvonne Paulson, manager of the IPE. "There are lots of people. You can tell that they've been at home with all the smoke, and now that it has lifted  they need to get out and get some fresh air, so they've come out to the country."

Families, friends and travellers fill the fair each year, bringing in tons of tourism for the community.

"The Great Canadian Roadshow is going to be here, you can bring your memorabilia, coins, jewelry or pictures, and they can value what it's worth and tell you a little bit of history about it as well."

The annual fair continues until Sunday.
