North Okanagan fire update

While resources and personnel continue to be dispatched to massive wildfires in the South Okanagan,  crews continue to keep a watchful eye on, and fight, the smaller fires in the North Okanagan.

As of Thursday morning, fire crews were confident in the work done to contain the Upper Brookside Creek fire outside Vernon.

BC Wildfire has the fire listed as 1.2 hectares.

Wednesday morning the BC Wildfire Service brought in three members of the provincial rappel team to action the fire, and in the afternoon used two bombers to drop retardant and a helicopter to conduct bucket drops.

There are two other fires of note in the North Okanagan.

The Dee Lake fire, which is roughly seven hectares, is being held. And the Trinty Valley fire outside Armstrong, which is roughly one hectare, is listed as active.

The BC Wildfire Service has stated: "There are currently 113 wildfires burning across B.C. right now, including 38 throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre and 48 throughout the Prince George Fire Centre."
