Honorless suspects arrested

RCMP have arrested two suspects in a series of thefts from Mama's Farm.

Genniene Sutherland, a.k.a Mama, set up a fridge on her farm where people could pick up items and leave their money on the honour system.

But not everyone has honour, and a couple of thieves made off with a lot of items.

Survellance video of the suspects was released and Vernon RCMP arrested two people.

“During the course of an unrelated investigation, our officers were able to identify a 36-year-old Vernon woman and a 44-year-old man Vernon man and linked them to the thefts of meat,” said Cpl. Yannick Lescarbeau. “Several counts of theft will be recommended against both individuals.”

Sutherland said she is pleased the suspects were arrested.

“It's hopefully over and they get what they deserve and we can get on with things and get our fridge stocked,” said Sutherland, adding she is not going to let the actions of a couple people change the way she does things.

“Most people are honest and these people obviously have some problems; they can afford food and they tried to take advantage. That's just the way it is out there today,” she said.

The names of the suspects have not been released.
