Music in the park

The J.S. Garcia Band will headline Valley First Music in the Park in Armstrong July 6.

The band hails from Lake Country, and is well known for their dynamic energy and crowd-pleasing performances.

Fronted by the mother and daughter duo of Jenn and Sophia Boal, the two singer-songwriters infectious harmonies and on-stage energy has earned the band a reputation for "ballads and sass.Ӊ۬The J.S. Garcia Band is rounded out by the backing of keyboardist Laverne Berget, drummer Chris Schriek and bassist Robby McAlpine.

Mixing folk, country, pop and rock styles, the band exudes that rare combination of superb musicianship, onstage-chemistry, and rapport with the audience.

Then on July 13, the Big Idea Band will take the Memorial Park stage.

The Big Idea Band was born out of a desire of a few musicians coming together to share their experiences. The combined creativity showcase different talents and display diverse backgrounds. The Band plays music from several eras as well as different genres including classic rock, blues, jazz and country. Their instrumental techniques are enhanced by beautiful, pleasing four and five part harmonies.

Along with free music, people can also help the less fortunate by donating a non-perishable food item to the Valley First Feed the Valley program.

The Music in the Park program runs once a week through Aug. 24.
