The 100th Falkland Stampede takes place this weekend, but rodeo fans can get a taste of the action for free today.
From noon to 2 p.m., the stampede grounds will be open for the Steer Wrestling Jackpot.
Cowpokes will pay an entry fee and the winner will walk away with the entire jackpot.
Another free stampede event is the Bucking Horse Drive from 11:40 a.m. until noon Saturday.
Cowboys and cowgirls will drive a herd of bucking horses down down Highway 97 – which will be temporarily closed for the event.
At one time, the Bucking Horse Drive was an annual – and popular – stampede event and it has been brought back this year only to commemorate the 100th anniversary.
