Celebrate 4/20

Celebrate 4/20 by joining an Okanagan medical marijuana business raise cash for the SPCA.

The owner of the Vernon and Kelowna Quick Grow is celebrating 4/20 by hosting their annual fundraiser party this Friday.

"We were able to raise just shy of $6,000 for the SPCA in Vernon last year," said Darryl Wilcox, owner of Quick Grow.

Quick Grow matches all donations raised at the event. Blue Sky Organics in Vernon also matches donations.

The event was only at the Vernon store last year but this year Wilcox is hosting the event at Quick Grow Kelowna as well.

"In Kelowna ... we are doing a by donation barbecue to the SPCA, and it's the same thing we are matching all donations," Wilcox said.

In Vernon, the SPCA will be at the event offering by-donation nail clipping and Canem dog treats.

"They donated about 50 boxes of dog treats, and we're working with Blue Sky and I believe they are also bringing in True Leaf."

Wilcox has his staff at both locations in a little competition.

"They are competing to see who can raise the most money," he said.

Wilcox is hoping to raise $10,000 at each location.

The fundraisers will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at both locations.

The SPCA will also be on site at the Vernon location offering nail trimming by donation.
