$8K of band's gear stolen

An Okanagan musician is out more than $8,000 after his gear was stolen from his garage sometime this past week.

Tim Reardon, who plays in the bands The Young'uns, Forty Foot Fred and Poundsign, noticed the lock on his garage was broken Friday, as he prepared to pack up his gear for a show in Kamloops. When he went inside, he found his gear was gone.

Reardon, who lives off Highway 6, in between Vernon and Lumby, says he makes his livelihood off that equipment, and it's been a huge blow.

“I've got to scramble now,” he said. “I'm going to have to buy a bunch of gear and put it on my credit card and hopefully I'll get insurance or get something back but I have to buy gear, I have no choice because I have to keep working.

“I don't want to have to, that's a lot of money.”

Reardon says he lives in a rural area, and believes someone must have targeted him.

“It's not like it's well advertised where I live,” he said.

Reardon says he's been overwhelmed by the response from the community after he posted about the theft to Facebook, a post that's been shared over 500 times as of Saturday.

“It might be very hard for this guy to sell this stuff,” he said. “It might be hard for them to unload it without getting caught, I'm hoping.”
