RDNO sets budget

The Regional District of the North Okanagan has approved its financial plan for the next five years.

There will be a tax increase.

"Our increase showing for property value tax on the total is 2.9 per cent, but that is before growth is factored in," according to the chairperson of the board of directors Bob Flemming.

The bulk of the 2.9 per cent increase is for water and parks services. It can also be reflected in investments in the community, whether that be the Kal Tire Place construction or the purchase of the rail trail corridor.

"In the case of our own electoral areas we are seeing a full year of the financing for the expansion of the BX/Swan Lake Fire Hall," Fleming points out, something that went through a referendum process.

"Those are all big things that make differences that people notice."
