15 days until spring

Fifteen days until spring, and for many a change in the season could not come fast enough.

City crews in Vernon are in the mood for a change as well, the winter decorations downtown have been taken down and swapped out for the more seasonally appropriate ones.

And while it is not the official start of spring, it was a welcome sight to people walking along 30 Avenue.

"People keep watching us and smiling," said one city employee. "It is time to change it up."

"It is perfect timing," one lady said as she watched. "Winter has been way too long.  It is long overdue. I did that yesterday at my own home. I got rid of all the winter stuff and brought out all the spring stuff."

"It's great," said another woman. "Bring on the spring."

Environment Canada is forecasting a warmer week ahead for the North Okanagan, with temperatures possibly hitting the double digits by the weekend. However, we are not out of the woods yet. The forecast also suggests we'll see a bit of a mixed-bag of weather for the week, with sun, clouds, rain and even some snow flurries.
