City approves variance

The City of Vernon has granted a parking variance for a development at 1803 31A Street.

The city granted the developer a variance that allows for 54 off-street parking spaces, down from 74 spaces.

The proposed 4.5-storey, approximately 48,000 sq ft development will feature 43 rental units. 

The next step is for the council to green light the building permit.

Concerns from community stakeholders and councillors were shared, but ultimately the variance was granted to Ironclad Developments. 

Ironclad Developments is also behind another project in Vernon. 

The group was granted a building permit for a five story building at 3400 Centennial Drive, which will feature 60 rental units.

The developer has stated that they intend to target single families and young professionals.
