Kid supports sick kids

Chantelle Deacon

A Grade 5 Oyama student has been growing his hair out for two years and in less than a week he will donate his long locks to Wigs for Kids BC.

Jesse Bauer has also raised about $300 for the organization that supports children living with cancer and he plans to raise another $200 before Sunday.

"Two years ago he started growing it out and decided that he wanted to donate it for wigs," said Jasmine Paige, Bauer's mother. "About a year ago his uncle got on the bandwagon with him too and so he is going to get his hair cut at the same time that Jesse does on Sunday."

The Oyama Traditional School student will say goodbye to his hair on Sunday at Tommy Gun's Original Barbershop at Orchard Park Shopping Centre in Kelowna.

"He has put a lot of effort into it even with his school they are doing a bake sale to raise money to put towards it," Paige said. "It has turned into this great thing."

"At first, I just wanted to have long hair and then one of my friends,  whenever I went over to his house,  he said he already donated his hair and then I wanted to do the same thing," Bauer said.

Every day until Sunday Bauer will post funny photos of himself rocking crazy hairstyles on his donation page.
