Today is national cupcake day, and it is actually sweeter than you think.
National Cupcake Day is a coordinated Canadian event.
Local businesses are selling cupcakes with proceeds going to help local shelters, SPCAs, and Humane Societies.
"It is giving them some extra funding to help more animals."
Mehgan Coard from Vernon coffee shop Cracked Pot Coffee. This is the first year the Cracked Pot has participated.
"We have made a whole pile of cupcakes and we have sold more than half of them, and whatever proceeds I get we're giving it all back, and I'm going to double it myself."
In 2017, animal lovers across Canada raised over $600,000 in support of their favourite societies. The campaign has raised $2.45 million to date.
