Ebbett with assist in opener

The Canadian men's national hockey team routed Team Switzerland 5-1 at the PyeongChan 2018 Olympic Winter Games Thursday morning.

It was the first game of the preliminary round for Team Canada. 

Vernon's Andrew Ebbett had an assist on a Wojtek Wolski goal in the third period. 

Other goals were scored by René Bourque (2), Maxim Noreau (1), Wojtek Wolski (2).

Derek Roy had three assists and Ben Scrivens got the win in net.

Up next for Team Canada is the Czech Republic Friday morning.

As for the Women's national team, they held on to a 2-1 win over Team USA to clinch the top spot in pool play. The women's side went undefeated in pool play. 

Semi-finals start Monday.
