Woman on a mission

Chantelle Deacon

Jayden McBride knows what she wants and is going after it.

The 20-year-old Lumby woman has launched a clothing line called Rad Mountain Living that has already received an abundance of positive reviews.

"I really like comfy clothes, and going through my closet I realized that a lot of clothes nowadays aren't comfortable," McBride said. "It's inspired by where we live, the mountains. I love where we live," she said.

Starting a business from scratch takes work, that's why McBride spent a year and a half putting in hours before releasing her clothing line about a month ago.

"For a couple years, I've been going on Instagram and I've seen many people do what I'm doing," she said. "I just got inspired and thought 'Hmm, maybe I can do this.'"

McBride was the victim of bullying in high school and plans to use her clothing line as a way to support other young women who have been through similar situations.

"At the Bean Scene, $5 of every (Rad Mountain Living) sale will be going towards a program at North Okanagan Youth & Family Services Society," she said. "The program I chose is Young Girls Self Esteem."

"In high school, I had a really rough time. I was bullied quite a bit, and I knew that as soon as I started this company I wanted to donate somehow."

The down to earth young woman has been in contact with retail stores in Banff and other businesses throughout the Okanagan about selling her product.

You can find her clothing line on Facebook, Instagram and at her website.
