An elegant and unforgettable lunch will be held for many Vernon residents this Saturday.
The Vernon Jubilee Hospital Auxiliary invites special needs guests from eligible groups to the one of a kind lunch.
"It's for special needs teenagers," said Ruth Roper, public relations for the hospital auxiliary. "They really look forward to it every year and it's invite-only because they want to just keep it to the Vernon area."
The 47th Annual Carnival “Special Needs” Gala starts at 11:30 a.m. with a lunch, followed by dancing to The Chilly Creakers.
Every year the attendees dress in their most fancy clothes and attend the party in high spirits.
"They really feel that this is their special day for the Carnival," Roper said.
The event will feature local celebrities like Vernon's Queen and Princess who will sit at the head table.
The gala is sponsored by Vernon Jubilee Hospital Auxiliary Society and will take place at Trinity United Church on Saturday.
