It has been a fixture in the landscape for decades, but a barn near Lumby could not survive the winter of 2017-18.
Heavy snow collapsed the aging structure, much to the disappointment of those who enjoyed the rustic ambiance the old building brought to the area.
A second barn in the same field remains standing, but one has been reduced to a pile of rubble.
“Loved those old barns,” said oner person on Facebook.
Posted another person, “Wow. hard to imagine the drive to Mabel Lake without that old barn.”
“Very sad! Was a definite landmark for us that grew up in Lumby back in the day,” said another.
