More snow on the way?

A lot of people in the Okanagan woke up Thursday morning expecting to shovel their way out of the driveway.

Instead, Environment Canada rescinded an earlier snowfall warning for parts of the north region early Thursday morning.

"The warnings for Vernon, West Kootenay, Coquihalla Highway - Merritt to Kamloops and Highway 3 - Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass have been ended."

It won't be the dump of snow originally forecasted for the North Okanagan, but snow is on the way.

The new forecast is calling for cold temperatures and some snow throughout the day, ending in the evening.

By Friday, the temperature warms up to around the freezing mark, and by the weekend the North Okanagan could see rain.

It is a different story further to the south.

A snowfall warning is still in effect for the Central and South Okanagan, with total amounts of 10 to 15 centimetres expected to fall Thursday and continuing overnight.

Highway alerts are still in effect for:

Coquihalla Highway - Hope to Merritt
Highway 3 - Hope to Princeton via Allison Pass
Okanagan Connector - Merritt to Kelowna
