A picture of a coyote is lighting up social media in Vernon.

Local photographer David Guscott snapped a compelling picture of the wild canine Tuesday in Marshall Field at the south end of town.

Guscott posted the picture to the Vernon and Area Community Forum Facebook page where it has received dozens of comments ranging from sympathy for the skinny looking animal to people warning other readers the coyote would likely go after household pets for sustenance.

Coyotes are common in the area and can often be heard howling at night.
