Mail thieves scared away

An observant citizen chased away some would-be mail thieves.

According to RCMP, at approximately 11:25 p.m. Jan. 1 police were called to the 5000 block of Back Enderby Road for a report of an attempted theft of a mailbox.

A resident in the area reported seeing three men attempting to push the mailbox into the back of a pick-up truck.

The resident yelled at the men, who got into the truck and drove away.
RCMP conducted significant patrols in the area but were unsuccessful in locating the truck, which is described as a black diesel pickup.
Anyone with information on the incident are encouraged to call the Enderby Detachment of the North Okanagan RCMP at 250-838-6818.

Thieves also targeted mailboxes in Lumby late last year.

Several boxes near Rawlings Lake were hit on Christmas Eve as were boxes on Highway 6.
