Search and rescue success

A man who injured his back while snowmobiling has been airlifted from the Keefer Lake area to hospital.

Vernon Search and Rescue search manager Leigh Pearson said they received word from the BC Ambulance Service that one of the man's companions had requested help around 11 a.m.

"We launched our helicopter and picked him up and got him safely back to Vernon," Pearson said.

The man is in his early 30s, and though Pearson did not have details on his current condition, he said the man could wiggle his toes at the time of the rescue, which is "a good sign."

Pearson said they lost a bit of time at the beginning of the rescue while de-icing the helicopter, but otherwise the operation went smoothly.
