Better access to rec facility

As part of its annual maintenance program, City of Vernon recreation services has installed disabled-accessible doors at the north and south entrances in the Priest Valley Arena and Gym building.

The project, approved by Vernon City Council, included replacement of the front lobby doors with automatic sliding doors, and the installation of new doors at the players entrance with a push button automatic door opener.

“This project is an example or our commitment to ensure that all of our facilities are as accessible as possible,” said, Wayne Mihalicz, recreation facilities co-ordinator.

“I think it’s great that Priest Valley Arena is more accessible for everyone to use” said, Crystal Williams, youth co-ordinator with Independent Living Vernon.
