The holiday season is a busy time at Silver Star Mountain Resort and they are prepared for an extremely busy Christmas.
“It’s setting up to be an amazing Christmas wonderland,” said Kristy Jahn-Smith, marketing manager, Silver Star. “We’ve got 20 centimetres of snow in the last 24 hours and that’s fantastic, it’s just light fluffy stuff.
“We’ve got prime temperatures. It’s sitting at about -10 C ... which is perfect snow conditions.”
The snow base at the top of the mountain is sitting at about 135 centimetres, according to their website.
Snowfall on Tuesday night made for an exceptionally busy Wednesday at the resort and Silver Star is hoping the crowds keep coming all Christmas long and well into January.
“This is the place to be for the holidays,” Jahn-Smith said. “This is Okanagan champagne powder at its best and I think this is where people want to be, whether it’s on the skating pond or the snowshoe trails, cross country or downhill, it’s all good right now.”
While the mountain celebrates 60 years in operation there will be a variety of festivities going on until the end of March.
Christmas and New Years Eve the village will light up with a fantastic firework show.
