Ring those bells for a cause

Come on ring those bells.

The Vernon Salvation Army is in need of bell ringers to man kettles at various locations around town.

“We definitely need more, “ said Kristin Ford, with the Salvation Army. “We have a lot of shifts that need filling.”

Each shift lasts two hours and the kettles are set up in 13 locations around town.

All but one of the locations are indoors.

The kettles are manned from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“We are going to start a 7-9 shift at a few locations as well,” said Ford.

The Salvation Army has set a fundraising goal of $500,000 this year.

Ford said the kettles play “huge part in our fundraising. Our kettles account for one-third of that goal.”

Volunteers can sign up online and see what shifts are available.
