Charges laid in fatal crash

An Armstrong man is facing multiple charges in connection with a 2016 vehicle crash on Highway 6 in Vernon that left two young women dead.

Travis Dustin Fox, born in 1995, has been charged with two counts of criminal negligence causing death, two counts of impaired driving causing death, two counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm and impaired driving causing bodily harm, among others.

Five people were said to be in a white GMC Sierra pickup truck which failed to negotiate a curve and veered off the highway, rolling several times before coming to a stop along the highway at Waddington Drive, police said at the time of the accident.

Carlee De Boer, 21, of Enderby, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other women killed, Paige Whitelaw, also 21, was from Vancouver Island.

De Boer and Whitelaw were roommates who had been attending Okanagan College in Kelowna when the accident occurred.
