Dads & daughters dance

It's almost time for the family princess to go dancing with dad.

The 20th annual Father/Daughter Ball put on by the Vernon Silver Star Rotary club is being held Friday, Sept. 22 at the Vernon Lodge and Conference Centre.

The big night is a major fundraiser for the rotary club and all proceeds support local children's charities.

“It is a special evening for fathers and daughters to share, and includes dinner, dancing, prize draws, crowning of a princess, presentation of flowers to all girls by a full-dress RCMP member, speeches from our Queen Silver Star and others,” said organizer Craig Goplen. “We have over 200 registered so far.”

Goplen said there is still room for more fathers and daughters who want to attend. Anyone interested in going can get more information online.

The rotary club offers local youths scholarships and exchange and is involved in local programs, including with Teen Junction and the Venron Women's Transition House.
