Ellison OCP To Be Updated

The Regional District of Central Okanagan is beginning the public process of updating the policies that guide land use decisions in the Ellison area.

There are two opportunities over the next month for residents of Ellison to make their thoughts, ideas and comments known. Households in the area will receive an information brochure and questionnaire that outlines the process of reviewing the Official Community Plan. Copies of the brochure and survey are also available at the Regional District of Central Okanagan office, 1450 KLO Road.

It’s also available on the Regional District website (www.regionaldistrict.com) on the Current Projects page of the Planning Services Department. Residents are asked to fill out and return the survey by July 9th by mail, fax or in person.

“It’s important that the Official Community Plan reflect the goals of the community,” says Ilene Watson, Regional District Planner. “The community’s input is critical in making sure we have relevant policies.”

A Public Meeting and Open House will also be held later this month at the Ellison Heritage School Community Centre. Watson says, “The point of this first meeting is to get some feedback about the existing OCP policies and find out people’s thoughts and ideas when it comes to future land use and servicing.”

The Ellison OCP Open House is scheduled for Wednesday June 23rd, from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm at the Ellison Heritage School Community Centre, 4411 Old Vernon Road.
