Drivers are being asked to ensure their wallets and electronic devices are not left in vehicles while they're out walking in area parks following some recent break-ins.
"Every year we receive numerous reports of wallets, electronics, money and other expensive items that were left in cars in recreational parking areas and that have been stolen," said Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy, Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP spokesperson. "Please ensure all valuables are removed and your vehicle is locked up."
Noseworthy confirmed there have already been reports of break-ins into vehicles at all the parks, including at a couple of the parking lots at Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park.
"Unfortunately our thieves in this area have figured out that if you are there, you are probably there for a few hours, which gives them a chance to either open your door or break your window and take it and go."
