The man accused in the murder of a Japanese student in Vancouver has also been charged in a sexual assault in Vernon.
The sex crime related to the new charge allegedly took place in Vernon on Sept. 28, the same day William Schneider was arrested at a makeshift camp near Polson Park.
Schneider is charged with second-degree murder and indignity to a human body in the death of Natsumi Kogawa last year.
Kogawa's body was discovered earlier that day at a vacant mansion in Vancouver's West End.
Police have not revealed how the victim died.
