Armed robbers target stores

Two armed robberies took place in the North Okanagan within a matter of hours.

Three people are in custody in connection with a robbery at the Armstrong 7-11 just after midnight on Tuesday.

“A woman entered the store, produced a knife and stole an undisclosed amount of money and merchandise,” said Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy, RCMP spokesperson. “The woman then fled in a car.”

However police were quickly on the scene and located a vehicle that matched the description of the car used in the offence.

“A 26-year-old woman, a 24-year-old man and a 26-year-old man were arrested and remain in custody.”

A few hours earlier, a man with a knife robbed the Dollar Tree store on 43rd Avenue in Vernon frightening both customers and staff.

“At approximately 8:41 p.m. on the evening of Feb. 13th, a lone man entered the Dollar Tree store on 43rd Avenue in Vernon, produced a knife and stated this was an robbery,” said Noseworthy. “An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen and the man fled the store.”

The male suspect is described as around five-feet-eight-inches tall and wearing dark pants, white running shoes, a blue jacket a black toque and gloves.

“No one was injured during this robbery, but staff and customers were alarmed,” Noseworthy said.
