Queen Silver Star crowned

Before a large audience of families, friends and visiting royalty, Jordynne Tomiak was crowned Vernon's Queen Silver Star LVII at the climax of the 57th proclamation, Thursday evening.

Meghan Townley was crowned Princess Silver Star LVII and Gabriella Pienaar was selected as Miss Congeniality.

Ten candidates had vied for the titles during the past six months. 

In her final speech, outgoing Queen Silver Star LVI Madison Catt reminded her successor not to take the title lightly.

"Take pride in everything you do while representing Vernon and yourself. . .  Believe me when I say many will look up to you as inspiration. . . I want you to have fun, work hard and take care of yourself."

Outgoing Princess Silver Star LVI Sneha Suniara reminded her successor "there will be lots of ups and downs in (your) life ahead, but keep patience and never change who your are, leave good memories behind and enjoy every moment of your new journey. Do good things and make Vernon proud."

Before the final announcements, a number of scholarships were presented to the candidates.

  • Speech Award: Jordynne Tomiak
  • Top Talent Award: Kayla Sargeant
  • Peoples' Choice Award: Gabriella Pienaar
  • First place Knowledge Exam: Jordynne Tomiak
  • Second place Knowledge Exam: Meghan Townley
  • Essay: Teagan Rogers
  • Essay: Autumn Evans
