Crash on Hwy 97

UPDATE: 6:30 p.m.

Vernon Fire Department has confirmed four vehicles were involved in a crash just south of Vernon Sunday afternoon.

Captain Dan Walker said crews responded to the crash at 2:11 p.m. on Highway 97 at Bailey Road, where four vehicles were involved in the crash.

One woman suffered minor injuries and was transported to hospital, and Walker said he believes an RCMP cruiser was also hit from behind.

He added that the department has been receiving a lot of calls about cars that are still in the ditch as a result of the incident, but notes that those cars have been flagged and that the drivers are safe and out of those vehicles.

Multiple vehicles, including an RCMP cruiser were involved in a crash just south of Vernon Sunday afternoon.

A witness says the RCMP car appears to have been T-boned by a red dodge pickup truck and that multiple vehicles are in the ditch.

Paramedics, several police cars and Vernon Fire Department were all on scene.

The extent of injuries is unknown at this time. Castanet will update with more details as they become available.
