Boozy Santa breaks in

Someone in a Santa hat has broken into the Vernon Golf and Country Club, making off with bottles of liquor, and police are now looking for the festively-adorned thief.

Vernon RCMP say there were two break and enters at the golf club on Kalamalka Lake Road within 24 hours of each other this week.

Police were called in on Dec. 6 around 6 a.m. after a report of a break-in.

“An unknown person broke into the club and fled with a number of liquor bottles,” said Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy.

Then on Dec. 7 at approximately 2:30 a.m., RCMP responded again to another break and enter at the club. Liquor bottles were stolen.

“Surveillance video in this instance showed what appeared to be a male wearing a Santa hat,” said Noseworthy. “Both incidents are being actively investigated. At this point it is unclear if the two break and enters are related.”

RCMP are asking anyone with information regarding either of the crimes to contact Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP at (250) 545-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 1(800)-222-8477.
