A chilly dip with Saint Nick

About 16 scuba divers donned their best Santa outfits and jumped in Kalamalka Lake Saturday morning for the third annual Okanagan Dive Club event.

Each year, members of the dive club brave the frigid waters to mark the end of the dive season for the benefit of some type of charitable cause.

“Last year we were doing it for the SPCA and we raised a lot of money for them and this year we're doing it as a bit of a beach cleanup for Kalamalka Lake,” said Becky Butt, an organizer of the event. “(We're) trying to get rid of some of that garbage that's out there that's been dropped over the summer months.”

Butt said they had members come from all over the Okanagan, and even Vancouver, to participate in the season-ending event.

The Okanagan Dive Club is a non-profit organization that focuses on the love of scuba diving.
