U.S. Olympians Kris Freeman, Brian Gregg and Caitlin Gregg, as well as various Canada and U.S. national ski team athletes, are among the 300 top-class, cross-country skiers who will be competing in races at Sovereign Lake Dec. 10 and 11th.
“This event attracts North America’s most elite cross-country skiers,” said Dudlley Coulter, media spokesperson for Sovereign Lake Nordic Ski Club. “At least four of the racers at Sovereign Lake...will race in the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics.
“Every one of the Canadians who competed in Torino 2006, Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014 Olympics raced this event at Sovereign Lake on their way.”
The upcoming event on Silver Star Mountain is the Haywood Noram/Buff Sprints and USSA Supertour.
The races will include skate technique sprints on Dec. 10th and skate technique distance races on Dec. 11th.
Coulter said the categories to watch for are Open Men and Open Women.
