Lavington glass plant sold

The home of the former glass plant in Lavington has sold for an undisclosed amount.

It is anticipated manufacturing of some form will occur on site once again, news that could have a significant impact on the local economy.

When the plant originally closed its doors in 2008, 300 jobs were lost.

Specific details on the new owners and plans for the property are expected at a press conference sometime this week.

The large piece of industrial land was put back on the market in February for almost half of the original asking price.

Don Kassa Realtor Services told Castanet at that time that the plant was taken off the market in 2013 with an original asking price of $9.4 million.

A new listing for the 92-acre parcel of land was posted earlier this year for $5 million.

That listing for the property at 9622 Hill Drive, Lavington, is now marked as sold.

Lavington is 15 minutes from Vernon on Highway 6.

The building is approximately 10 acres in size with ceiling heights of 23-29 feet in many areas.

The warehouse itself is approximately 6.3 acres with six covered loading bays.
