RCMP leave park

UPDATE: 4:17 p.m.

Police continue to remain tight-lipped about the investigation in Polson Park Thursday morning, which has now concluded.

Police vehicles and crime scene tape that once blocked a path heading into the Park, off Highway 97, were gone by 3 p.m. Thursday.

Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says the RCMP have "concluded their investigative activities this afternoon" in the park, but he would not elaborate on the nature of the investigation.

A short walk up the once-blocked-off path leads to what appears to be a small camp, with mattresses, blankets, several tarps and strewn garbage.

UPDATE: 10:40 a.m.

Police are saying little about crime scene tape up in Vernon's Polson Park.

"The Vernon RCMP is current examining two scenes at Polson park in relation to an ongoing investigation," said a brief statement from RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.

He provided no other details.

ORIGINAL: 8:45 a.m.

RCMP officers are on the scene in Polson Park this morning at an apparent crime scene.

A wooded area below Vernon Jubilee Hospital is taped off, but police on scene are not saying what happened.

Park maintenance staff told Castanet three people are known to camp in that area, but they were not sure what happened.

Castanet will have more details as soon as they are available.
