Rescue at Bisson Lake

There was a second rescue in the Okanagan Monday night, this one involving a dirt bike rider.

The rescue took place in the Bisson Lake area, about 20 kilometres south of the junction of Highway 6 and Kettle Valley Road.

Vernon Search and Rescue, RCMP and BC Ambulance all attended the scene.

Pete Wise, search manager with Vernon SAR said they received reports a dirt biker had crashed.

"We got reports the bike was on top of him," said Wise.

"He activated his spot beacon on his phone, and RCMP contacted us."

Wise said the helicopter winch team had just touched down at Vernon airport from another rescue in Kelowna when the call for the second rescue came in.

The helicopter, which was not used in the Bisson Lake rescue, had just returned from a rescue in the Crawford Trail area in Kelowna.

Wise said the team was able to get to the man and place him the the care of paramedics, who took him to Vernon Jubilee Hospital. The man's condition is not known.

The rescue was the 60th this year for Vernon Search and Rescue, which surpasses last year's record of 56.
